IKEA opened in Tampa in 2009 in Tampa's Ybor City and is still crazy busy on weekends. Half the fun is roaming through the 353,000 square foot building and buying fun-looking, inexpensive items that later we realize we didn’t need. That includes today’s visit.
At the top of the escalator is the second floor showroom displays, but make if you make an immediate right turn, you’ll see the sign for their cafeteria called Swedish Restaurant.
It’s a typical school-like cafeteria layout where you pickup a tray and slide it along the metal rails and stop to pick up items.
You pay at the center registers and the drink station is just beyond the checkout. When done eating, you return the tray to a rolling cart.
Arrived just as they opened the doors at 10am so there’s no excuse for what was served today. The dish looked almost exactly to what was shown on the menu board, but that’s all the credit I’m giving them. Scrambled eggs that were just tiny crumbles, potatoes that were cold and unseasoned and bacon that was overcooked and dry.
So how did we like the Tampa IKEA’s $3.99 breakfast special? This photo should tell you everything. You know its bad if I didn’t finish the bacon.
Tip: You don’t need this IKEA item, so save the few dollars and head to McDonalds afterwards.
